Ginger Limeade

With warmer weather on the rise, your cookouts and company will increase. Your barbeque may not need a new twist but here is something you can serve to drink that beats the usual punch and soda pop routine, it’s Ginger Limeade. It’s a cool refreshing drink that’s different from lemonade and can easily be made into a cocktail. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 4 quarts Water
  • 3 inch piece of Ginger
  • 3/4 quart Lime Juice
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 lemon sliced
  • 1/2 lime sliced
  • mint leaves

Directions:

  1. slice ginger into thin pieces
  2. place ginger slices and 1 quart of water into a pot and simmer (don’t boil) until the water turns a brownish color
  3. add sugar to ginger and water mixture
  4. add 1/2 quart of lime juice
  5. add 2 quarts of cool water and mix well and allow to cool
  6. remove most ginger slices
  7. adjust to your taste preference by adding more lime juice, sugar or water as needed
  8. place in pitcher and allow to cool in fridge then serve
  9. fill glasses with ice and garnish with mint leaves, lemon and lime slices

This can be made into a cocktail by adding a shot of vodka to each glass.

Just a regular guy who loves to barbeque. Married father of two. I developed a love for grilling as a child watching my dad grill. My love for BBQ, using wood and the "low & slow" method came after I purchased my first horizontal smoker in my 20's.
